Father's Day DIY Gifts

Here are the DIY gifts we are working on for my husband's first Father's Day:

ADORABLE PICTURE(S) IN A PERSONALIZED FRAME

I took a picture of our girls wearing their Dad's work shirts and ties.  Adorable.

I then personalized this frame with wooden cut out letters I painted and hot glue gunned to the frame.

HANDPRINT & FOOTPRINT PAPERWEIGHTS

My husband keeps mentioning wanting some sort of keepsake that deals with our girls handprints/footprints, so we made these little gems.

HOW TO MAKE IT:

1.  Combine 1 cup of all purpose flour + 1 cup of salt + 1/2 cup of water.  Knead the dough for about 10 minutes or so.  (I've also heard you can add food coloring to the mix if you want to do a color.  We didn't go that route though.)

2.  Roll portions of the dough into balls (slightly bigger than a golf ball but smaller than a tennis ball).  Place the ball onto parchment paper.  Pancake the balls into about 1/4" flat circles (use your palm).

3.   Have your kiddo(s) imprint their little hands and/or feet into the dough.  (This is incredibly frustrating with two 7 month olds!  Seriously took us like a dozen tries to get it right.)

Note:  I added the date and their initial to their imprints.  I used a skewer and tapped in the initial as oppose to drawing it in strokes.

4.  Bake on low (about 250 F) for about 3 hours.  Apparently, you can let them air dry/harder over several days too.  The oven just expedites the process.
